Your government has announced that it wishes to build a military base near your community. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this new influence on your community.
Do you support or oppose the military base?
Sample Answer:
Nowadays, war is a harsh reality in our planet and new military bases are needed to be built. Consequently, there is no way to oppose the decision of government. For that, government has to acquire a big pieces of land, and therefore, many people will lose their lands. Despite this fact, new military base will create jobs opportunity for the local people. Not only that, it will also give us a sense of security. Considering its advantages and disadvantages, I believe that new military base would bring fortune for our locality.
To start with, a huge pieces of land is required to a new military base. Which by consequence will evict people from their homes, lands. In addition, they might be bound to change their occupation which has been occupied for generations. Naturally, they will fall into an appalling condition. Furthermore, a cantonment needs to impose various restrictions upon civilians due to security concern. This will hamper normal lifestyle of our community. Our lifestyle will also be disturbed by incessantly cacophonous sounds. It will affect our sleep and our privacy, since the noise will be around our house every single hour of the day, particularly in the time of yearly military exercise sessions.
However, a new military installation will bring with it a plenty of resources for economic growth for all the nearby communities. This economic boom will be tangible both directly and indirectly. The direct form of economic growth will be seen through various work projects needed to be completed. These projects will go well in advance to the new facilities being able to sustain a workforce and many families of our community. A huge labor force will be employed from our community. Also, many expatriate workers will come to the job site which will require housing and daily necessary commodities. This will indirectly benefit our local shop owners and businessmen. With the added demand to provide different services or goods to the arriving workforce and their families, our people will be able to boost up their economic condition. This in turn will increase our purchasing capacity and ultimately we can improve our living standard.
Similarly, having a military base means decrease of crime rate. There is a tight security for twenty four hours if there is a military base. This means that the overall crime rate will be decreased, and our people will feel safe. Actually, a military base will be our safeguard. In case of emergency, the military base would be available providing us with the aid and protection we need.
To recapitulate, every coin has its both dark and light side, and a military base is no exception. The advantages of a military base far outweigh the little drawbacks that come with it; the social and economic development will transform our community into a better place to live in. so why should we not give it to help our community to develop our socio-economic condition?
