Sample Answer:

Climate change has been a contentious issue in recent years, with some people believing that reforms designed to reduce emissions and mitigate its effects will be damaging to businesses, while others consider that such measures offer businesses opportunities. This essay will look at both of these points of view before giving my own opinion.

On the one hand, it can be argued that climate change reform will be detrimental to businesses. For example, introducing carbon taxes may force companies to increase their prices or reduce production, resulting in lower profits. Additionally, measures such as capping emissions may inhibit companies from expanding, as they will no longer be able to produce as much as before. This in turn could lead to job losses and a reduction in economic activity.

On the other hand, some people argue that climate change reforms offer businesses the chance to become more efficient and save money. For instance, investing in renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power could reduce energy costs and make businesses more competitive. Furthermore, introducing new technologies such as electric vehicles could help businesses to reduce emissions while also providing them with new products to sell.

In my opinion, climate change reforms are an opportunity for businesses, rather than a detriment. Although there may be a short term cost associated with making the necessary changes, the long term benefits of becoming more efficient and competitive will far outweigh them. Additionally, businesses have a duty to help reduce emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change, and reforms are an ideal way of doing this.

To conclude, while some people believe that climate change reforms will be damaging to businesses, others feel that such measures offer them opportunities. In my opinion, the latter is true, as businesses should take advantage of the long term benefits of becoming more efficient and competitive, while also helping to reduce emissions.
