Sample Answer:

Nursing is a job that requires both medical and emotional skills. In recent years, the role of the nurse has become increasingly complex, and it is argued that nurses should not just be limited to basic training but should have other qualities as well to do their jobs well. While I agree that additional qualities may be beneficial, I believe that basic training should remain the most important requirement.

To start with, I accept that there are many qualities that are beneficial to a nurse’s job. For example, it is important for them to be good communicators and have excellent problem-solving skills. Nurses often have to make decisions quickly and explain complex medical terms to patients, so having these skills is advantageous. Furthermore, nurses need to have an understanding of human behaviour, as they will often be dealing with people in distress. In addition, nurses should have good organizational skills, as they will be responsible for managing multiple tasks efficiently.

However, I believe that the most important requirement for a nurse is basic training. This includes studying anatomy, physiology and pharmacology, as well as understanding how to use medical equipment and how to identify different illnesses and infections. Without basic knowledge of these concepts, nurses will not be able to provide the best care for patients. Moreover, if nurses are not fully aware of the latest medical procedures, they will not be able to keep up with advances in the field.

In conclusion, I believe that basic training should remain the most important requirement for a nurse, although additional skills may be beneficial. Nurses need to be competent in medical knowledge to provide the best possible care for their patients, and this should be the primary focus of their studies.
