Sample Answer:

It is an undeniable fact that a large number of people living in cities are not physically active, and this has become a major issue in modern society. This essay will discuss the causes of this problem and propose solutions to address it.

The primary cause of inactivity among city dwellers is the prevalence of sedentary lifestyles. This is due to the fact that most urbanites work in offices, where they have to sit in front of a computer for long hours every day. Additionally, advances in technology have made it easier for people to work from home, which means they spend even less time on physical activities. Furthermore, many urbanites are too busy with their jobs and other commitments to make time for physical exercise.

Another factor that contributes to the lack of physical activity in cities is the over-reliance on automobiles and other motorized vehicles. This results in people spending less time walking or biking, and instead opting for more convenient, yet less healthy, methods of transportation.

In order to address this problem, governments must take steps to promote physical exercise in cities. One solution is to provide public transportation that is designed to encourage people to walk or bike. For example, public transportation in cities should be designed in such a way that it is easier for people to access, and should provide bike lanes and safe pedestrian pathways. Additionally, governments should also invest in more recreational facilities such as parks, gyms and sports complexes to provide people with more opportunities to engage in physical activities.

In conclusion, there are numerous causes of physical inactivity among city dwellers, and governments must take steps to address this problem. By providing better public transportation and investing in more recreational facilities, people can be encouraged to lead an active lifestyle and reap the numerous benefits of physical exercise.
