Is this a positive or negative development?
It is undeniable that in today’s digital age, the internet and television have become the go-to sources for people to become famous. While this may have its advantages, it can also have its drawbacks. This essay will discuss the pros and cons of this development.
On the one hand, there are numerous benefits of this trend. Firstly, it has made it easier for people of all backgrounds to become famous. For example, an individual can become a YouTube star by creating and uploading their own videos to the platform. Similarly, with the help of television, many people are able to showcase their talent and skills to a larger audience. Secondly, this development has opened new opportunities for people to become famous. For instance, with the emergence of reality television, people are given the chance to become famous by being featured in such programmes. Finally, it has also become easier for people to make money from becoming famous. For instance, many celebrities and influencers are able to generate lucrative income from sponsorships and endorsements from companies.
On the other hand, there are also some disadvantages of this development. Firstly, it has become easier for people to become famous for the wrong reasons. For instance, people can become famous for their scandals or criminal activities. This can have a negative impact on society as it can encourage people to do wrong things to become famous. Secondly, it has also become easier for people to spread false information to become famous. For instance, people have been known to post fake news on social media platforms to gain notoriety. Lastly, this development can also cause people to become overly confident and arrogant. For instance, many celebrities and influencers have become overly boastful and self-centred due to their newfound fame.
In conclusion, it is evident that the internet and television have made it easier for a large number of people to become famous. While this may have its advantages, it can also have its drawbacks. It is therefore important for people to be mindful of the consequences of this development.
