Some movies are serious, designed to make the audience think. Other movies are designed primarily to amuse and entertain. Which type of movie do you prefer?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
Sample Answer:
Movies are the latest medium of entertainment. It is such a medium whose language is easier to all sorts of audience. It is such a book everyone can read in their own way. By watching the same movie different people can get different messages and which might be quite unique in nature.
Some movies are made to entertain and to amuse while others make the audience to think. It depends on one’s choice how one takes a movie. And it’s a tough choice to choose in between as sometimes I watch movies to be amused and entertain myself and while I like some movies which make me think.
In spite of that, if I had to choose between the two I’ll choose film to amuse and entertain myself. Because, in this modern world there is a scarcity of entertainment and there is immense pressure all the way. There is hurry in all around us; there is a pressure of works and professional life which don’t give us enough time for ourselves. Movies are the very few windows where we can take breath from the harsh environment all around us which are, actually our own creation! To get deep breath some entertainment movies are the best source.
It is one of the most accessible media for us and we can have a theater even in our bed room even via our laptop or smart phone! To get a quick entertainment movies are the best medium.
If we see the movie industry we will see the movies which entertain us are gathering much more profits than the few movies which are made the audience think. On the other hand the main purpose of film industry is to entertain. There are other options like documentaries, short films and feature films whose purpose is to teach, to make audiences think and to raise awareness.
Another point is that the movies which are made to amuse and entertain us are not devoid of thinking materials! If we watch the movies of Charlie Chaplin like ‘Modern Times’, ‘The Kid’ and ‘Circus’ and almost all of his movies we will see they are filled with a lot of thinking materials though everyone get huge amusement from Chaplin’s work.
For all of the aforementioned reasons my personal preference is the type of movie that primarily entertain and amuse.
