The idea of going overseas for university study is an exciting prospect for many people. But while it may offer some advantages, it is probably better to stay home because of the difficulties a student inevitably encounters living and studying in a different culture.

Knowledge in any epoch in any society has a profound importance. People seek knowledge even if they have to go a far way. Nowadays, as the world we live in has become a global village, more and more and more students tend to go abroad for university study. Although, living and studying in an exotic culture have some shortcomings, but its advantages far outweigh the drawbacks. The following reasons could explain how.
First of all, students can gain a new academic perspective by overseas studying at one of many prestigious and reputed universities. Many of them is the top ranking institution in the world, studying abroad exposes the students a new horizon of learning and teaching, different cultural perspective on their subjects, and access to resources that might not be available in their homeland.
Secondly, studying overseas offers a unique opportunity for personal growth. Studying in a foreign country can provide the students with a perfect environment to learn a new language. Being encircled by native speakers affords the students the scope to immerse themselves in the language, which can expedite their fluency and retention. In addition, they can possess the competence to communicate beyond cultures. This means they have understanding more than just a different language. They can become familiar with the custom, tradition and heritage of the host country in which they are studying.
Last but not the least, studying abroad enhances job opportunity. Potential employers are very interested in foreign degrees as it denotes the student’s ability to adapt new situations, and to be independent. Most importantly, it demonstrates his sensitivity to other viewpoints and cultures and his desire to bloom himself and courage to step out his comfort zone. So, in this competitive global job market, studying abroad means unlocking a bright career.
Based on above discussion, it can be easily concluded that studying abroad offers multitudes of opportunities to grow academically, personally, and professionally. Studying overseas, thus, surpasses its difficulties associated with the new culture.
