Sample Answer:

It is often argued that businesses should not focus only on making profits and should also be held accountable for their contribution to society. While I agree that companies should take responsibility for the social impact of their activities, I also believe that their primary goal should be to generate wealth for their owners.

To begin with, it is undeniable that businesses have an obligation to society. They should make sure that their activities are compliant with the law, and that their operations are not detrimental to the environment. Moreover, companies should consider the interests of their local community by taking part in charitable initiatives and sponsoring educational projects. Additionally, businesses should pay fair wages to their employees and provide them with decent working conditions.

That said, businesses must not forget that their primary objective is to create wealth for their owners. This is because profits are essential to ensure the long-term sustainability of the company. Without profits, businesses will not be able to invest in research and development, modernize their equipment, or expand into new markets. What is more, companies should seek to generate a return on investment for their shareholders, otherwise they will not be able to attract the capital they need to grow.

In conclusion, while I agree that companies have a responsibility to society, I believe that their primary goal should be to make money. This is because profits are essential to ensure the long-term sustainability of the company, and to attract the capital they need to grow. Nevertheless, businesses should not forget their obligation to society and should consider the interests of their local community.
