Science is becoming more and more advanced as time goes on and this has led to the development of new criminal forensics that can be used to look at old cases. While there are some benefits to this, I disagree with the notion that it should be used exclusively and in all scenarios.
Firstly, it is important to consider the financial implications of using this technology to look at old cases. It is often expensive to purchase and maintain the equipment needed to examine evidence, and this cost can be prohibitive to some police forces and legal organisations. Additionally, the cost of hiring expert scientists and analysts to interpret the data can be a significant burden for both public and private organisations. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the cost-benefit of using this technology before it is applied in any given situation.
Secondly, the accuracy of this technology is not always guaranteed. Despite the fact that advancements in technology have made it possible to look at a wider range of evidence, there is still a chance that the evidence may not be interpreted correctly or that the analysis may not be comprehensive enough to provide a conclusive answer. Therefore, the risk of making a wrong decision based on this technology should be taken into account when deciding whether or not it should be used.
Finally, it should be noted that the use of this technology can also have ethical implications.
