IELTS General Writing Task 1 with sample answer.
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
Your friend has offered to sell you something. Write a letter to this friend. In your letter you have to include:
- what the item is
- questions requesting details of the item being sold
- what price you think is fair
You should write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write any address.
Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Paul,
It is always pleasure for me to write you. Hope you are doing well. We are good by the grace of god. I am writing this letter regarding the laptop you have offered to sell to me. I am eager to buy the gadget, because I always want to have a laptop. For that, I need the details of the laptop.
In our last conversation, you told me that the laptop is in shape and works well. I need some specific information about the gadget. First of all, what is the brand of the laptop? Secondly, what is screen size? And most importantly, how much memory the RAM and hard disc have? Would you mind getting back to me with this information?
As for the price, well, I think $250 is fair enough for a second-hand laptop. If you agree with the price, I would be happy to finalize the exchange as early as possible.
