Sample Answer:

Nowadays, an increasing number of well-off young individuals from affluent countries are devoting their time to unpaid work in disadvantaged countries. This essay will discuss the reasons why this phenomenon is occurring and analyse who obtains more advantages from it: the communities or the young people.

There are numerous reasons why young people from wealthy countries are engaging in voluntary work in poorer countries. Firstly, it is possible that they are motivated by a desire to make a difference in the world, to help those in need and to take part in meaningful humanitarian projects. Moreover, many of them might be looking for an opportunity to travel and experience different cultures. Finally, these unpaid placements provide them with the chance to gain valuable work experience and hone their skills, which can prove beneficial for their professional career.

The communities are the main beneficiaries of this situation, as they are the ones who receive the help from these young people. Whether it is teaching, providing medical care or helping with building projects, the impact of their work is certainly beneficial. In addition to this, the communities get to experience different cultures and customs, which can be a refreshing change for them. On the other hand, it is argued that the young individuals also benefit from voluntary work abroad, as they acquire new skills and gain a wider understanding of the world.

To conclude, more and more young people from affluent countries are opting to take part in unpaid work in disadvantaged communities. This phenomenon is motivated by a desire to make a difference, travel and gain valuable experience. It is clear that these communities are the main beneficiaries of this situation, as they receive invaluable help, however, the young people also gain a lot of personal satisfaction and career opportunities.
