IELTS General Writing Task 1 with sample answer.
You are moving home. Write a letter to your neighbours to say goodbye and thank them for their help during your stay.
In your letter,
- explain how they helped you
- say what you will miss the most about the area where you lived
- invite them to visit you at your new home
You should write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear Mr and Mrs Albert,
After living in this nice neighbourhood for around three years, I am finally moving to Georgetown – my hometown where my parents live, next month. I am writing to show my gratitude for everything you have done for me and say goodbye.
I will never forget how you had been by my side whenever I needed someone to support me emotionally or with something. I still remember how you took me to the hospital on a cold November mid-night when I got sick. Your constant friendship, support and mentorship helped me tremendously.
Perhaps I will miss friendly neighbours like you the most. I will also miss the opportunity to join the exciting picnic in your backyard. Those are the memories I will cherish for the rest of my life.
I would be equally glad and grateful if you kindly visit my new house in Georgetown sometime in March. It will mean a lot to me.
