You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
As an international student in Sweden, you have an account with a local bank. The monthly bank transfer you receive from your parents has been delayed this month due to an error at your parents’ bank.
Write a letter to your bank. In your letter:
- introduce yourself and ask for a loan
- say why you need the money
- tell how you intend to pay back the money
You should write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write any address.
Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir,
I am an international student from Vietnam studying Political Science at Lunds University. I have had an account in your bank and my account number is SE35 2345 2321 3769. I always kept my account in credit since I have arrived in Sweden. Unfortunately, this month my father cannot send my expenses in due time due to an error of my father’s bank. That is why, I am writing this letter to request you for a temporary loan so that I meet my needs of this month.
Every month I receive 2000 Euro for my monthly expenditure. Except this month, I have always received the bank transfer without any difficulty. But unfortunately, my father is not able to send me any money this month because of an error occurs in my father’s bank in Vietnam. This is a severe problem for me. Because I have to pay rent to my landlord. Besides, I also need money to meet my general living cost like, commuting cost, food expenditure, etc. I estimate that if I get 800 Euro, then I meet this month’s expenditure.
I, therefore, would like to request you to grant me a temporary loan of 800 Euro for a maximum period of one month. I hope my father would able to send me money within one week of the next month. It would be greatly appreciated if you assist me in this stranded situation. I look forward to hearing you soon.
