Dear Sir or Madam,

IELTS GT Writing Task 1 – Sample Answer:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am Alex Brooks, writing this letter to you with the anticipation that you would publish an article in our college magazine focusing on our college canteen where more than a hundred students eat every day.

I like the fact that our college canteen offers breakfasts, lunches and dinners five days a week at an affordable price to the students, and it maintains good hygiene as best as possible. The professional staff who serve the pupils also are amicable and prompt in offering their service.

However, the college canteen definitely needs some improvements as it is the only place for meals for more than a few hundred students including me. The first improvement it requires is the variation in its menu. Residential students like me often hate it when we are offered the same food every single day. So the canteen authority should offer different items and use varied menu options. Moreover, the canteen should be open seven days a week instead of five days per week as residential students have no better adjacent place to eat their meals on weekends.

I hope you publish a magazine article on the next issue so that the canteen problems are addressed while also highlighting how it is important and useful to us.

Thank you in advance.

Yours faithfully,

Alex Brooks
