VISITS ABROAD BY UK RESIDENTS

Sample Answer:
The given table data show the result of a survey which presents information about the number of UK people who travelled to foreign countries for various reasons during the period 1994 – 1998. It also summarises their destination while travelling to foreign countries during the same years.

As is observed from the table, more than 15 thousand UK residents travelled to foreign countries in 1994 and this number increased every year and finally reached over 20 thousand in 1998. For a business trip, UK citizens travelled to other countries and that was initially over 3 thousand in 1994 and it reached around 4 thousand in 1998. Just over 2 thousand people visited other countries to meet their friends and relative in 1994 and it gradually increased each year before finally reaching just over 3 thousand. All other reasons for the travel comprised less than one thousand in a year and it showed some minor fluctuation in later years.

According to data presented in the second table, more than 22 thousand UK residents travelled to different destinations outside the UK in 1994 and Western Europe was their most favourite destination where more than 19 thousand people visited in this year. The same trends can be observed in the later years where North America was their second favourite destination. In 1998 the total number of UK people who travelled outside their country reached over 28 thousand.
