“When people succeed in life, it is because of hard work. Being lucky has nothing to do with success in life.”
Do you agree or disagree with the quotation above?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
Sample Answer:
There is nothing concrete called luck. Actually hard work determines one’s life. I fully agree with the statement that people succeed in life because of hard work. The world is not shaped by luck rather the extraordinary hard work, dedication and commitment to ones respective works. When somebody becomes successful, admirers tempt to clothe their successes with the illusory word called ‘luck’.
There is a nice point to focus on this discussion. All successful people talk about their hard work behind their success and all the failed one blame the ‘luck’ for their failure.
If a sailor doesn’t row well and set the sails right the boat will not follow any direction and it will not be able to reach the destination. Here luck can’t play any role or merely luck will not take the boatman to the destination. It is same with the lives of all men. If anyone wants to achieve something great, wants to do some noteworthy works, he must rely on his/her hard work. Only hard work can crown anybody with success. Luck is important (if it has any importance at all) after you give all of your efforts. Before then luck is a powerless, baseless, useless, meaningless word, a term or an idea!
If we go through the world history and the lives of the extraordinary successful people we will see nothing but their unimaginable hard work acted behind their successes! For example Thomas Alva Edison was a dropper from the school and with little formal education but he became one of the greatest inventors of all time in later part of his life. It is said that Edison failed thousand times to come out with the right kind of electric bulb. And he used to work 18-20 hours a day and because of hard work he could invent so many things in his life time. Here luck played little or no role at all.
Actually luck is an illusory coinage and if anyone depends on this idea will be weak and it will take one’s energy away. It is better we celebrate hard work and the fruits it brings.
