When designing a building, the most important factor is the intended use of the building rather than its outward appearance
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Sample Answer:
It is often argued that when constructing a building, the most important factor is not its outward appearance, but the intended use of the structure. While I agree that the practical purpose of a building should be a priority, I believe that its external design should also be considered.
The primary purpose of a building is, of course, to provide a space for its intended use. For example, when planning a school, the primary consideration should be to ensure that the building provides a suitable learning environment. This could include ensuring that the classrooms are well-sized, the corridors spacious and the building well-lit. Therefore, to ensure that a building is fit for its intended purpose, it is essential to consider the practical needs of the building’s users.
However, it is also important to consider the outward appearance of a building. The physical appearance of a building can have a significant impact on its users. For instance, a well-designed school may encourage students to take pride in their school and motivate them to perform better. Furthermore, an attractive building may also be of benefit to businesses, as it may attract more customers or create a positive impression of the company. Therefore, in order to create an effective and efficient building, the external design should be taken into account.
In conclusion, while the practical use of a building should be the main focus when constructing a building, its external design should also be considered. A well-designed building can positively affect its users and ensure that the building is fit for its intended purpose. Therefore, both the practical needs of the building’s users and the design of the building should be taken into account when constructing a building.
