Corruption is a global phenomenon found in almost every country in the world. But corruption in my country has been shaped a pandemic form. It ruins poor people more than others, smothers economic growth. Not only that, it also diverts direly needed funds from education, public health care and other public services. If I get the chance to change one thing about my country, I would like to take certain actions to eliminate corruption from our country and make our country corruption free.
In my country, corruption takes place both in public and private sectors. That is why I would take measures for preventing corruption directed at both the public and private sectors. These include preventive actions, like the establishment of anti-corruption bodies and transparency in financing of political parties and their election campaigns. I would definitely ensure that public services are subject to safeguard that flourish efficiency, transparency and recruitment based on caliber. In addition, public servants once recruited must be subject to code of conducts and I would ensure disciplinary actions for financial and other malpractices.
Similarly, I would also ensure transparency and accountability in terms of public procurement. I would establish a regulatory body that will assess requirements and keep eyes on every procure procedure. I will introduce a law that the state can confiscate the property in the case of the embezzlement of the public funds in addition to state can also return the confiscated property. I think returning forfeited asset will supports our state’s endeavor to redress the worst implications of corruption while also conveying the message to the corrupt officials that there will be no place for hiding their illicit assets. Besides, I would also separate the judiciary from the executive branch of the state and show zero tolerance in judiciary sectors. That is to say that everybody, whether he is leader or government official or anyone else, is subject to law and no one can influence the judiciary process.
In fine, I would devise an integrated program that will be able to reject corruption at every level of society. Through removing corruption from the state mechanism, I would build my nation as a dreamland.
