Throughout history, male leaders have led us into violence and conflict If a society is governed by female leaders it will be more peaceful

Sample Answer:

It is often argued that a society governed by female leaders will be more peaceful than one governed by male leaders, due to their perceived attitude towards violence and conflict. However, while there is some evidence to suggest that this may be true, there are also a number of counter-arguments which challenge this opinion.

On the one hand, there is some evidence to suggest that a society governed by female leaders is likely to be more peaceful. For example, research has suggested that female leaders are more likely to seek non-violent solutions to conflicts, such as negotiations and diplomacy, rather than resorting to military action. Furthermore, female leaders may have a greater emphasis on social welfare and education, which could lead to a more peaceful society by improving social cohesion and providing opportunities for economic development.

On the other hand, it is important to recognise the limitations of this argument. Firstly, it is often argued that men and women have different traits which make them suitable for different roles; however, this does not necessarily mean that a female leader is any more likely to bring peace than a male leader. For example, a female leader may be just as likely as a male leader to resort to violence in order to achieve their political goals. Secondly, it is important to note that there have been numerous female leaders throughout history who have been responsible for leading their nations into conflict, such as Queen Elizabeth I of England or Queen Isabella of Spain. This suggests that the sex of the leader is not necessarily the determining factor when it comes to peace or conflict.

In conclusion, while there is some evidence to suggest that a society led by female leaders may be more peaceful, there are also a number of counter-arguments which challenge this opinion. Ultimately, it is impossible to make a definitive conclusion as to whether a female-led society would be more peaceful, and other factors, such as the leader’s personal traits or political goals, could have a greater influence on the level of peace in a society.
