Do the advantage of this trend outweigh the disadvantages?

Sample Answer:

The world is rapidly changing and with this, the differences between countries are becoming increasingly less evident. This is largely due to the prevalence of international media, which allow people to follow trends regardless of geographical location. While this phenomenon has some advantages, it is also worth considering whether these outweigh the drawbacks.

The primary benefit of this trend is that countries are becoming more connected. This is because people are exposed to the same news, culture, and ideas regardless of their physical location. This has led to a decrease in cultural misunderstandings, as well as an increased sense of global unity. For example, the recent rise in the popularity of K-pop has allowed for a greater international understanding of South Korean culture, and a greater appreciation for the diversity of global music.

On the other hand, this trend also has some potential drawbacks. Firstly, it can lead to a decrease in local culture. This is because people are exposed to more homogenised ideas, which can lead to a decrease in the appreciation of local culture and traditions. For example, in some countries, traditional music is being replaced by more commercialised versions, which could be seen as a detriment to local culture.

Furthermore, the prevalence of international media can also lead to an increase in inequality. This is because people are exposed to products, ideas, and services that are only available in certain countries, which can lead to a sense of envy and a feeling of being left out.

In conclusion, while there are some advantages of the increasing homogenisation of countries due to the prevalence of international media, these may be outweighed by the potential drawbacks of decreased local culture and increased inequality. It is important that governments and individuals consider the potential effects of this trend in order to ensure that our world remains a diverse and equitable place.
