Sample Answer:
Nowadays, there is a debate about whether students should learn about the science of food and how to cook, or whether they should focus on more important academic topics. In this essay, I will discuss both views before giving my own opinion.
On the one hand, those who think that students should learn about food science and cooking make a valid point. Knowing how to prepare food is an essential life skill, and it is important that students understand the basics of nutrition. Furthermore, this knowledge can be used to promote healthy eating habits among the younger generations. For example, schools can teach children about the importance of eating a balanced diet, and how to prepare meals that are both nutritious and delicious.
On the other hand, those who believe that students should focus on more important academic topics also make a valid point. Learning the core subjects such as Maths, English, and Science is essential for a child’s development and future success. It is also true that there is only so much time in the school day, so it is important to prioritize the most important topics. Additionally, learning about food and nutrition is not only available in the school curriculum, but can also be taught outside of the classroom by parents and other family members.
In my opinion, I believe that both arguments are valid and should be taken into account. I believe that students should be taught the basics of food science and nutrition, as it is an invaluable life skill. However, I also believe that the more important academic topics should be given priority in the school curriculum, as these are essential for a student’s development. Therefore, I think that both topics should be taught in the school curriculum, as well as outside of the classroom. This would ensure that students are well-equipped with both the knowledge and skills that they need for a successful future.
