Sample Answer:

In the present day, there is an increasing trend of people not visiting a doctor to receive medical advice and instead seeking advice from other sources. This essay will examine the reasons behind this development, and assess whether this is a positive or negative step.

The primary reason why people are increasingly avoiding doctors for medical advice is due to the growing popularity of health-related information on the internet. This easily-accessible source of information means that people can obtain advice from various websites and discussion forums without having to pay for a consultation. Furthermore, the fact that people can search for information anonymously means that they can avoid the embarrassment of discussing sensitive topics with a doctor.

On the positive side, this development has increased the level of knowledge about health-related issues and made it easier for people to access information regarding their health problems. This has enabled people to make more informed decisions about their health, and to take measures to prevent health problems before they become serious.

On the negative side, this development has led to people avoiding the advice of qualified medical professionals, and instead relying on incorrect information on the internet which could lead to serious health issues. Furthermore, the internet cannot provide medical advice tailored to an individual’s specific needs, whereas a doctor can. As a result, people are more likely to miss out on important treatment or prevention options.

To conclude, the increasing trend of people not visiting a doctor for medical advice is a largely negative development. Whilst the internet provides a convenient source of health-related information, it cannot replace the advice of a qualified medical professional, who can provide advice tailored to an individual’s needs. Therefore, it is important that people should continue to seek advice from qualified doctors and not rely solely on the internet.
