This essay will discuss both sides of this debate and argue that a combination of both should be sought.
On the one hand, when designing a city, it is important to consider aesthetic beauty. This is because cities act as a representation of a country, and the way in which they appear can reflect the culture and values of that nation. Additionally, the beauty of a city can be a source of pride and admiration, leading to increased tourism and revenue, as well as a higher quality of life for the citizens. A notable example of this is the city of Paris, which has become renowned for its stunning architecture and world-famous monuments.
On the other hand, it is also essential to consider the functionality of cities. This is because if a city is not designed with efficiency in mind, it can lead to overcrowding, traffic, and an increase in pollution.
