Sample Answer:

Crime is a severe issue that affects many countries throughout the world, and it is often argued that the most effective way to reduce and combat it is to increase the presence of police on the streets. Although I agree that this approach can be beneficial in certain cases, I believe that the most effective methods of reducing crime rely on multiple approaches.

On the one hand, it is true that having more police on the streets can be a very effective way of reducing crime. This is because the presence of law enforcement officers can act as a deterrent for criminals, as they can be more easily caught due to increased surveillance. Furthermore, it can also give citizens more confidence in their safety, as they know that the police can respond quickly to any incidents that occur. Therefore, increasing the police presence can be a very effective way of reducing crime in certain areas.

On the other hand, however, I believe that relying solely on police presence is insufficient in reducing crime in the long-term. This is because it does not address the underlying causes of crime, such as poverty and inequality. Therefore, although it can be effective in the short-term, it is not enough to reduce crime in the long-term. To address the root causes of crime, governments need to invest in initiatives that can improve social and economic conditions, such as job training and education programs. This can help to reduce crime in the long-term, as it can give people more opportunities and reduce the incentive to engage in criminal activities.

In conclusion, although having more police on the streets can be an effective way of reducing crime in the short-term, I believe that the most effective methods of reducing crime involve multiple approaches. This includes both increasing the police presence and investing in initiatives that can address the underlying causes of crime.
