It is a commonly held belief that primary school students should be allowed to watch experiments demonstrated by teachers instead of performing them themselves. While I appreciate the potential benefits of this approach, I believe that there is more value in allowing students to conduct experiments themselves.
On the one hand, there are a number of advantages to allowing students to observe experiments rather than performing them. For instance, this approach could save time and resources, as it would be quicker and more economical to demonstrate a process than to provide the materials or equipment required for each student to conduct their own experiments. In addition, it would reduce the risk of accidents occurring in the classroom, as students would not be handling hazardous materials or equipment.
On the other hand, I believe that there is greater value in allowing students to conduct experiments themselves. Experiencing the process of experimentation first hand would give students a deeper understanding of the process and its results, which is essential for a well-rounded education. This would also allow students to learn from their mistakes, as they could observe the results of their own experiments, rather than just those of the teacher.
