It is sometimes suggested that primary schoolchildren should learn how to grow vegetables and keep animals
Do you think that the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?
Sample Answer:
Nowadays, it is advocated that primary school children should be taught how to grow vegetables and keep animals. While some people may believe that the benefits of this activity outweigh the drawbacks, I strongly believe that the disadvantages are more significant and far fewer advantages should be taken into consideration.
On the one hand, it is thought that having primary school children to learn how to grow vegetables and keep animals is beneficial. It can help children to become more independent and responsible. It can also provide them with the opportunity to learn how to take care of living things and how to take responsibility for their actions. Furthermore, it can give children a sense of achievement and accomplishment.
On the other hand, there are many drawbacks to this activity. Firstly, it can be very expensive and time-consuming. The cost of supplies and equipment for growing vegetables and keeping animals can be quite expensive. In addition, the time that must be devoted to this activity can take away from other activities such as studying, playing and socializing. Secondly, it can be dangerous for inexperienced children who may not have the knowledge or skills to properly take care of living things. Thirdly, it can be quite messy and the mess can be hard to clean up. Finally, there is the risk of spreading diseases and illnesses if the animals are not properly taken care of.
In conclusion, while there are some benefits to having primary school children learn how to grow vegetables and keep animals, I believe the disadvantages far outweigh the advantages. Therefore, I believe that this activity should not be encouraged in primary schools.
