Sample Answer:

Nowadays, plastic containers are an essential element in many businesses, including food and drink companies, due to their convenience, cost-efficiency and durability. However, they bring along certain drawbacks that can’t be ignored. In this essay, I will discuss the possible advantages and disadvantages of using plastic containers, and attempt to conclude whether the pros outweigh the cons.

The primary advantage of plastic containers is the convenience they provide. They are lightweight, durable and stackable, which allows for easy transportation and storage. Moreover, they are easily obtainable, being produced in large quantities, and are relatively cheap. As a result, food and drink companies can benefit from their low cost and convenience.

On the other hand, the use of plastic containers is associated with several disadvantages. Firstly, it is a known fact that plastic is not biodegradable, and it takes hundreds of years to decompose. This raises the concern of environmental pollution, since plastic containers contribute to the growing amount of plastic waste, especially if they are not properly recycled. Additionally, plastic containers are made of synthetic materials which can often contain hazardous chemicals that can leach into the food. This can be especially dangerous for children, as well as people with compromised immune systems.

Overall, I believe that the benefits of using plastic containers outweigh the disadvantages. If used responsibly and with proper disposal, they can be a great asset to food and drink companies. For example, when businesses switch from using glass to plastic containers, they can reduce their production costs, as well as their carbon footprint. In conclusion, I believe that, with the right precautions, plastic containers can be a great asset for businesses.
