People these days watch TV, films and other programmes alone rather than with other people

Do the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?

Sample Answer:

The trend of watching television, films and other programmes alone has been increasingly popular among people in recent times. While some may argue that this development has more advantages than disadvantages, I personally believe that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

On the one hand, there are some potential benefits to watching programmes alone. For instance, it allows people to watch whatever they want without having to compromise with others. This is especially beneficial for those who do not have a similar taste in entertainment as their friends and families. Furthermore, watching alone also removes the need for negotiation about what to watch and allows people to watch in peace and quiet, with no distractions.

On the other hand, there are several drawbacks to watching programmes alone. Firstly, it can lead to the disconnection from reality due to the lack of real-life social interaction. Secondly, it can also lead to an increase in loneliness and depression, as people become more isolated from the outside world. Thirdly, it can also lead to an over-dependence on technology, as people rely more and more on virtual entertainment to fill their time.

In conclusion, while watching programmes alone can have some advantages, the drawbacks outweigh them. To ensure social and mental wellbeing, it is important for people to spend time with others and engage in real-life social activities. Therefore, people should watch television, films and other programmes with their family and friends, rather than alone.
