Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Sample Answer:
The debate surrounding the most effective way to address climate change is a contentious one, with some believing that people should make strenuous efforts to protect the environment, and others believing that it is best to learn to adapt to its effects. This essay will discuss both views in detail before outlining my opinion.
The most obvious solution to the looming climate crisis is for individuals, organisations and nations to take action to reduce their impact on the environment. This could include reducing their reliance on non-renewable energy sources, such as coal and oil, in favour of renewable energies such as solar and wind. In addition, people can make lifestyle changes to help reduce their emissions, such as reducing their consumption of animal products and reducing their reliance on single-use plastics. These efforts to reduce emissions can help to slow the rate of climate change, and protect ecosystems and species from the worst effects of global warming.
On the other hand, some believe that it is better to learn to live with the consequences of climate change. This means accepting the fact that temperatures and sea levels will continue to rise, and that extreme weather events such as droughts and heatwaves will become more frequent. This approach would involve developing strategies to help communities to adapt to the changing climate, such as developing resilient infrastructure and investing in early-warning systems for extreme weather events. This approach may be more achievable than trying to reverse the effects of climate change, and could help to reduce the impact of its worst effects.
In my opinion, we should pursue both approaches to climate change. Firstly, we should make every effort to reduce our emissions and protect our environment. This should include investing in renewable energy sources and making lifestyle changes to reduce our impact. Secondly, we should also be developing strategies to help communities to adapt to the changing climate. This could include investing in infrastructure that can withstand extreme weather events, and developing early-warning systems to help communities prepare for the worst. Only by taking both approaches can we ensure that we are adequately prepared for the effects of climate change.
