It is no doubt that studying abroad is becoming increasingly popular in recent years, as it is more convenient and cheaper than before. While this trend has many advantages for foreign students, this essay will discuss if it is beneficial to the country of origin and whether this trend is likely to change in the future.
Firstly, it is evident that studying abroad can benefit the countries of origin in a variety of ways. For example, those who study abroad often gain valuable skills and knowledge which they can later bring back to their home countries. This can be particularly beneficial in the field of technology, as students may be exposed to the most advanced technology and equipment. Furthermore, those who study abroad often form important contacts and networks which can be extremely valuable for their home countries. For instance, a student who forms important contacts in a business school abroad may be able to help their home countries gain access to foreign markets.
On the other hand, there is also the matter of the ‘brain drain’ effect.
