Sample Answer:

Nowadays, it is not uncommon to observe that young people are more familiar with international pop or movie stars than with famous people in the history of their own country. This essay will discuss the reasons why this phenomenon may be taking place and some steps that can be taken to address this issue.

There are a number of possible explanations as to why this may be the case. Firstly, it could be argued that international celebrities are more heavily promoted than famous people in the history of a particular country. For instance, modern pop stars may be featured on popular television shows and in the press which could make them more recognisable than national figures from the past. Additionally, it could be suggested that young people may find it easier to engage with international celebrities due to the fact that technology has made the world a smaller place and information is easier to access. Therefore, they may be more aware of what is happening in other countries and be drawn to the lifestyle of these stars.

In order to tackle this problem, there are a number of steps that could be taken. For instance, it is important to ensure that young people have access to a wide range of historical information about their own country. This could be achieved by introducing a range of age-appropriate books and multimedia resources that focus on national figures from the past. Furthermore, schools should also consider making history lessons more interactive and engaging. For example, students could be encouraged to use technology to research national figures from the past and create presentations or posters on their findings. Finally, there should be more events organised in order to celebrate the achievements of national figures from the past. This could include the setting up of museums and the running of national competitions to promote interest in this area.

To conclude, it is clear that young people today are more familiar with international pop and movie stars than famous people in the history of their own countries. This could be due to the fact that these celebrities are heavily promoted and accessible to young people. However, by introducing a range of age-appropriate resources and organising events to celebrate national figures from the past, it may be possible to increase young people’s interest in the history of their own country.
