Sample Answer:

The issue of high salaries for top executives in large companies has been a controversial topic of debate for some time. There are those who believe that CEOs and top executives should be rewarded for their efforts and talent, and should therefore be remunerated with high salaries. On the other hand, some people argue that these executives should not be paid disproportionately more than other employees. In this essay, I will analyse both viewpoints before reaching a conclusion.

On the one hand, there are valid reasons why executives should be paid higher salaries than other employees. Firstly, CEOs and other top executives have a special set of skills that are often acquired through years of experience and hard work. They are also responsible for making important decisions that could have a significant impact on the company’s performance. Secondly, these executives are often required to work long hours and have the added pressure of meeting goals and objectives. This means that they are expected to be highly motivated and have the commitment to lead the company forward. In light of this, it is reasonable to suggest that these executives should be rewarded for their efforts with higher salaries.

On the other hand, there are also arguments against paying executives excessively large sums. Firstly, this could lead to a decrease in morale amongst other employees, as they feel unfairly treated. This could have a detrimental effect on the company’s performance, as a motivated workforce is essential for success. Secondly, the large salaries that executives receive could be seen as a waste of money. This is especially the case when companies are struggling financially, as the money could be better spent on other areas of the company.

In conclusion, while it is understandable why executives should be rewarded for their efforts, I believe that they should not be paid disproportionately more than other employees. This is because it could lead to a decrease in morale amongst other workers, as well as being seen as a waste of money. A more equitable approach to remuneration would be to ensure that all employees are rewarded fairly for their efforts.
