Sample Answer:

The recent surge in urbanization has raised the demand for public parks and sports facilities in new towns. Some people believe that constructing such amenities rather than shopping malls is a better way to promote recreational activities. I wholeheartedly agree with this opinion for the following reasons.

In the first place, public parks and sports facilities have numerous health benefits for the citizens. For instance, having access to open spaces, such as public gardens, encourages people to engage in physical activities like jogging and cycling. This, in turn, helps to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and improve mental health. Additionally, such facilities are also beneficial for fostering social interactions, as citizens can come together to take part in various activities, such as sports tournaments and cultural programs.

Secondly, public parks and sports facilities are more cost-effective than shopping malls. Constructing and maintaining such amenities requires less financial resources than constructing and maintaining shopping malls. Furthermore, they also help to reduce pollution levels as they provide a natural environment in which citizens can enjoy the outdoors, thereby reducing the need for vehicular transport.

Finally, public parks and sports facilities can act as tourist attractions and help to boost the local economy. For instance, the presence of well-maintained gardens and sports fields in a particular area can attract tourists, who will spend money on food and accommodation. This, in turn, generates income for the local businesses, thus promoting economic growth.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that constructing public parks and sports facilities in new towns is more beneficial than constructing shopping malls. Such amenities not only provide citizens with numerous health benefits but also help to reduce pollution levels and boost the local economy.
