Sample Answer:

Nowadays, parents are the primary caregivers in most families and the debate concerning whether or not extended family members should be involved in a child’s upbringing is still ongoing. In my opinion, I strongly agree that having aunts, uncles and other relatives involved in the upbringing of a child can be beneficial to their development.

Firstly, a child’s extended family can provide a greater variety of experiences and perspectives. Relatives may offer new ideas and activities that parents are not aware of, which can help to broaden a child’s horizons and provide them with a more well-rounded education. For instance, a grandparent may be able to tell stories about their childhood and share in the family’s history, which can help to provide a strong sense of identity and belonging.

Secondly, having an extended family involved in a child’s upbringing also provides them with a greater sense of security. With a larger support network, the child can be more certain that they are not alone and can always find comfort and understanding from other family members. This can be especially important for those times when parents are busy or unable to be present.

Finally, a child’s extended family can offer an additional layer of discipline and guidance. With their own unique set of values and opinions, relatives can help to reinforce the rules and expectations that parents have set for the child. Additionally, with more adults looking out for a child, there is a greater chance that any unacceptable or dangerous behaviour will be noticed and stopped.

In conclusion, I believe that an extended family can definitely play an important role in a child’s upbringing. Not only can they provide a greater variety of experiences and perspectives, but they can also offer a greater sense of security and guidance. Therefore, I believe that having aunts, uncles and other relatives involved in a child’s upbringing can be beneficial to their development.
