To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Sample Answer:
Marriage is a partnership between two individuals, and, over the past few decades, the roles of husband and wife in a marriage have changed considerably. This has led to a debate over whether both spouses should be responsible for providing an income for the family. While I agree that both partners should contribute financially to the household, I believe that the primary earner should remain the husband.
It is true that in the modern era both spouses should be expected to financially contribute to their household. In many countries, both partners are employed and often have high-paying jobs. This means that both individuals can work to provide a comfortable lifestyle for their family. Additionally, it has been argued that if both spouses are earning money, then the burden of providing for the family is shared between them and this eases the financial pressure on the household.
On the other hand, it is still important to consider the traditional roles of husband and wife in a marriage. This is particularly true in societies where gender roles are still very much in place. In such societies, it is expected that the husband is the primary breadwinner and that the wife is the homemaker. As such, it is the responsibility of the husband to earn enough money to support his family. This allows the wife to focus on her role as homemaker and to take care of the children and manage the household.
In conclusion, I believe that both spouses should be expected to contribute financially to the family. However, it is still important to consider the traditional roles of husband and wife in a marriage, and, as such, the primary earner should remain the husband. This allows the wife to take care of the home and family while the husband works to provide a comfortable lifestyle for them.
