IELTS Writing Task 2 with sample answer.
You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.
Some people prefer to work for themselves or own a business. Others prefer to work for an employer. Would you rather be self-employed, work for someone else, or own a business?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Write at least 250 words.
Sample Answer:
I would rather be self-employed than to work for someone else. If we give a look at the dimension of those aspects it will be clear why being self employed is the better option. If we give a focus on working in others company or farm what we will see?
We will find ourselves to be the servant of others’ will and in most of the cases we lose our independence and do things which we abhor. We become what we never dreamt of. We are living in a world where the keys are in the hand of others. There can be no pathetic scene than this – which one lives a life which he hates terribly. Although there are some people who like to imprison themselves to the will of others for monetary security and secure social status. This picture reminds us of the pet birds who live in cages of the owners. They are well fed and well treated but they are not free to move. They have to stay inside the cage. On the other hand birds in nature are free to move though they might suffer from the scarcity of foods.
That’s why I want to be a self-employed man. Here I’m the maker of my fate. I may suffer severe hardship and I may stumble on the way but at the end of my life I can say I could follow my dream and tried to maximize my dream. It is in one’s own initiative where a person can use the best of one’s ideas, the best of his plans. That’s why success rate is great here if one is persistent and dedicated to the last.
For example, if Bill Gates didn’t work for his own dream – Microsoft; he couldn’t be what he is now. It was his dedication, commitment and steadiness which brought him to success. Now we celebrate his success not because he worked in other farms but because he pursued his dream and was stick to that and became successful for that. We will get similar stories in Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs.
I have some certain goals and I think I’ll be able to fulfill them. That’s why I should be better self employed than to work in other farms. Because I know where I want to go and how I will go. I don’t have any confusion.
