The given bar graph presents information about the male and female research students with science major in the United Kingdom in 2009. As is observed in the bar graph, men research students in those subjects were higher in number than that of female students.

According to the bar graph, more than 200 male students were in Physics compared to the only about 40 female students. In Astronomy and Geology there were 150 research students against the 50 to 80 female students. More students from both genders were in Biology and Medicine than other science related subjects. In Biology there were more than 230 male research students while the female’s number was 200. In Medicine, the number of research students in UK was 200 while this number for female was about 175. Interestingly there were more female students (over 110) than male (about 90) in Veterinary medicine.

Overall, Biology and Medicine had more research students than other subjects and male students outnumbered the female students in these subjects except for Veterinary medicine.
