The pie chart below shows the main reasons why agricultural land becomes less productive. The table shows how these causes affected three regions of the world during the 1990s.

The provided graphs show the reasons that contributed to the decreased productivity of agricultural lands and also depicts the land degradation percentage in three regions.

According to the pie chart, over-grazing and deforestation are two main reasons for land’s degradation in productivity and they both caused more than 30% degradation of lands each. Over cultivation is another prominent reasons for less productive of agricultural lands and it contributed 28% of the total causes of barren lands. All other reasons contributed 7% as the causes for barren lands.

According to the table data, North American lands became less productive by 5% and over cultivation and over grazing were two most significant reasons for this. European farming lands’ fertility got decreased by 23% which was quite high compared to North America and deforestation was the main reason for that. South Pacific Oceania region also faced a 13% less productivity in their farming lands and over-grazing was the main reason for that.
