Sample Answer 1:

Dear Joe,

Hope you are doing fine. I was so glad to receive your letter yesterday and knowing that you and your family members are fine was a happy news for me. You also asked me about my preparation for the IELTS test.
Well, I am in a better position than I was few weeks earlier regarding my IELTS preparation. Now that I know the exam format and the type of questions that I will likely encounter in the original IELTS exam, I feel more comfortable about the test. As you know I was quite busy with my part-time job and that’s why could not get enrolled in any IELTS preparation centre. I am preparing from the IELTS books I bought and from online resources. I found 2/3 really helpful websites that have plenty of resources for the test. I am spending three hours every day and I have taken some mock tests in my computer.

Overall preparation is satisfactory so far but the Academic Reading section needs more practice as I am still getting poor mark in the mock test in reading section. The lengthy passages and the questions sometimes give me the impression that I still need to devote more times in reading section. How is your progress in your TOEFL preparation? When are you going to register for the test?

I look forward to hearing from your soon. Convey my love to your parents and siblings.

Yours,
Ethan.

Sample Answer 2:

Dear Alicia,

It is always great pleasure for me to receive your letter. Hope this letter will find you in good mood. However, in your letter, you wanted to know about my IELTS preparation. I am preparing myself for the exam with all my efforts. If everything goes well, then certainly I can pass the exam with flying colours.

Everyday, I spend four hours on IELTS beside my regular academic activities. You would be glad to know that I attained good scores in writing and listening sections in the mock tests. You know I found an amazing site on the net. The site’s name is www.ielts-adviser.com. I have found the site very handy for IELTS preparation as it has lots of useful contents on writing. Most importantly, there are some quizzes and tests for writing task 1. Most times I surf the site for my preparation. One thing here is needed to mention that I can evaluate my essays on the site. It provides me with nice evaluation that helps me hone my writing skill significantly.

However, I am struggling with speaking part. I need to practice more rigorously as I am getting poor scores in the section. My speaking fluency is not yet good enough to get a good score. Sometimes I mumble while speaking. So, I still need to devote a quality time in the section. I eagerly expect suggestions from you as you have 8 in speaking. Your suggestion would be great help for me.

Keep tune and keep in touch.

Yours lovely,
Emma
