Sample Answer:

The discussion on whether governments should prioritize environmental pollution and housing problems in order to reduce illnesses and diseases, has been a matter of debate for some time. This essay will discuss the adversities of environmental pollution and inadequate housing, and how the government should address these issues, in order to reduce illnesses and diseases.

It is widely accepted that environmental pollution has a severe effect on human health. Air pollution due to the burning of fossil fuels and the release of chemicals from industries has been linked to respiratory illnesses such as asthma, bronchitis and lung cancer. In addition, water pollution from chemicals, industrial waste and sewage, can cause various illnesses such as diarrhoea and cholera. Governments should therefore prioritize reducing environmental pollution, by introducing strict regulations and policies, to ensure that industries and vehicles comply with the standards set.

Housing problems have also been linked to health issues. Overcrowded housing with poor ventilation, often leads to the spread of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, meningitis and diphtheria. Poor housing also results in unhealthy living conditions, which can lead to mental health problems such as stress and depression. Governments should focus on providing adequate housing for all citizens, by providing subsidies and loans to people in need. This would ensure that everyone has access to safe and healthy housing.

In conclusion, governments should prioritize reducing environmental pollution and housing problems, in order to reduce illnesses and diseases. By introducing stringent regulations and policies, and providing adequate housing, governments can ensure that citizens live healthy and safe lives. This would lead to a healthier population, which would ultimately benefit the economy.
