Some think that fathers should have time off from work after the birth of a child

To what extent do you agree or disagree?


Sample Answer:

It is often argued that fathers should be given time off from work after a child is born, and while I agree that this is beneficial in many ways, I do not think it should be mandatory.

On the one hand, there are many advantages to fathers taking a period of leave from work following the birth of their child. For example, it gives them the opportunity to bond with their new baby and form a close relationship. Fathers may also be able to provide practical support to the mother and help out with childcare tasks such as changing nappies and bathing. Additionally, it can be beneficial to the child to have both parents around in the early days, and time away from work allows fathers to play a more active role in their child’s life.

On the other hand, however, I do not think that fathers should be obligated to take time off from work after the birth of a child. This is because some couples may not be able to afford it and, if their livelihood depends on the father’s salary, they may not be able to survive without it. Furthermore, some fathers may have a job that they can’t simply take a break from, such as a doctor or a nurse. In these cases, it may be impossible for them to take time off work.

In conclusion, I believe that fathers should be encouraged to take time off from work after the birth of their child, but I do not think it should be mandatory. This is because some couples may not be able to afford it and, in some cases, it may be impossible for the father to take a break from work.
