Sample Answer:
This century is called the age of information with the unprecedented development of technology. The rapid technological advancements allow media to publish news as swift as possible on the one hand, and people to get news as convenient as possible on the other hand. At the same time, the media are at liberty to publish what they want to. Thereby, we now can learn of an event with every detail within the shortest possible time. But when it comes to publishing the detailed criminal description on TV and newspaper some people contend that it has huge negative impact. They outcry for the restriction of this sort of information on the media. In this case, I am of the honest opinion that this kind of information should be restricted on the media because it has severe impacts on children and aged people.
Nowadays people can easily have this sort of violent news on televisions and newspapers every day. They are able to know everything happening around the globe. And a pile of media are publishing every detail of an incident, particularly a violent event. But the problem is that in most cases the media, particularly the electronic media, do not mention whether a particular program is suitable for children or people suffering from heart diseases or not. This results in children are disclosed to those news without prior notice and thereby they might suffer mentally and feel lack of security. Likewise, a heart patient may get ill seeing the violent story on TV screens. In addition, often media gives criminal descriptions exaggeratedly that triggers more and more same crimes instead of informing people.
Again, a detailed report of a crime scene exposed on the media could provide the potential criminals with handy information, which would be tough to obtain otherwise. This may aware them about shortcomings and pitfalls, and make them harder to be tracked down by the law enforcement agency. Thus, the detailed delineation of crimes aids the criminals to commit heinous crimes skillfully.
From what has been discussed above, it could be easily said that the media contribute negative impact to the society. For that, I feel that there need restrictions on what the news mediums may or may not do in reporting a crime scene.
