The given line graph compares the intake of three spreads, namely Margarine, Low fat & reduced spreads and butter from 1981 to 2007. As is observed, the consumption of butter reduced in later years while low fat & reduced spread become more popular among people in later years.

According to the line graph, butter was the most consumed spread type in 1981 with more than 140 grams intake. In this year the consumption of margarine was about 85 gram. Around 1990, the consumption of butter and margarine intersected each other with 100 grams consumption each. After that the consumption of margarine remained stable till 1996 while the intake of butter kept on decreasing. The low fat & reduced spreads were introduced in 1960 and the popularity and consumption of it increased dramatically. In 2001 this spread type became the most consumed spreads with over 80 gram consumption while it was just below 80 grams for margarine and only 60 grams for butter. After 2001, the usages of these three spread type decreased and a sharp decrease could be observed in case of margarine. In the year 2007, the consumption of these three spread types were about 70 grams for low fat & reduced spreads, about 50 grams for butter and 40 grams for margarine.
