Some people think that children should begin their formal education at a very early age. Others think they should begin after 7 years of age
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Sample Answer:
In recent times, there has been a heated debate surrounding whether children should start their formal education at an early age or after the age of 7. With regards to this issue, there are two schools of thought, and each has its own merits and demerits.
On the one hand, those who advocate early schooling, argue that children are like sponges and are more likely to absorb learning at an early age. Furthermore, they believe that the earlier they start, the more they will benefit from the educational system, as they will have more time to learn and understand different concepts. Furthermore, they argue that it will help to reduce the pressure on the child when they reach their teenage years and enter high school.
On the other hand, those who are against early schooling, claim that children should be able to grow up and develop their social and emotional capabilities before starting formal education. Furthermore, they argue that education should be a joy and not a burden, and that children should be able to explore their environment and learn from it before being forced to learn from textbooks. Additionally, they argue that children should be allowed to develop their social and emotional capabilities before entering the formal education system.
In my opinion, I believe that children should start their formal education after the age of 7. I believe that the primary concern of any educational system should be the wellbeing of the child, and that children should be given the opportunity to explore their environment and build social and emotional capabilities. Furthermore, I believe that the early years are important for children to explore and understand different aspects of the world, and that they should be allowed to develop their skills before entering the formal education system.
To conclude, while there are valid arguments for both sides of the debate, I believe that children should start their formal education after the age of 7. This will give them an opportunity to explore and understand their environment, and will help them to build social and emotional capabilities.
