To what extent do you agree?

It is often argued that certain school subjects, such as mathematics and philosophy, should be optional for students due to the fact that they are evidently more challenging for some pupils to learn. While I agree that such courses should not be compulsory for all students, I believe that they should still be available to those who are interested.
On the one hand, it is understandable why these particular subjects ought to be optional, as they can be significantly more difficult than others which are deemed necessary by the education system. For instance, many children find mathematics challenging, which can lead to frustration and a feeling of inadequacy, as well as a lack of interest in the subject. Similarly, philosophy, which is a more abstract field of study, may not be as straightforward for some students, which could mean that they would be unable to gain full benefit from it.
On the other hand, however, I believe that these two subjects should still be available to those who are interested in learning them. Mathematics, for example, is a crucial area of study because it provides a strong foundation of basic skills which are essential for a variety of other disciplines, such as engineering and business. Likewise, philosophy can aid in the development of critical thinking, which is an invaluable asset to have in the modern world. Therefore, while they may not be compulsory, these two subjects should still be available to those who are willing to take on the challenge.
In conclusion, I believe that mathematics and philosophy should not be compulsory for all students, as some may find them too difficult. However, I do think that they should be available to those who are interested in learning them, as both can have great benefits for the individual.
