The given bar graph illustrates the changes in three crime types in Newport city centre from 2003 to 2012. Overall, burglary decreased significantly over time while car theft and robbery showed some fluctuations but did not decreased much.

As is observed from the graph, burglary was the highest occurred crime type in 2003 with about 3500 incidents in Newport city centre. In this year car theft was also a common crime there with about 2800 occurrence. Theft from the person which was categorized as robbery was the least common crime in Newport area that happened only about 650 times.

Overtime the incidence of burglary kept on decreasing and it reached to almost 1100 incidence in 2008. The year 2008 was the year when least amount of crimes occurred in Newport. Other two crime types, i.e. car theft and robbery occurred about 2000 and 500 times.  In the next few years, car theft remained as the most frequent crime type in Newport city centre. Finally in the year 2012 car theft incidence at Newport reached to about 2800, burglary incidence to about 1400 and robbery incident reached to about 600.
