Sample Answer:

Nowadays, an increasing number of university graduates decide to take a year off after finishing their studies for travelling abroad. While some people argue that it would be more beneficial for students to work for one year instead, I disagree with this standpoint and consider travelling to be the more advantageous option.

Travelling abroad has become a popular choice for graduates who have just completed their studies. This is mainly because it allows them to experience different cultures and gain life experience. For instance, a student who has just finished their degree in economics may decide to spend a year travelling in countries such as Japan, where they can learn about how different cultures and societies approach economics. This is beneficial for students, as it gives them an opportunity to broaden their horizons and gain knowledge that they cannot find in the classroom.

Furthermore, travelling abroad is also a great way to develop personal skills such as communication, adaptability and problem-solving. For example, if a student travels to a foreign country, they will need to be able to interact with people who may speak a different language or have different customs and beliefs. This will require them to develop their communication skills in order to be able to understand and be understood. Moreover, they will also need to be able to adapt to new situations and solve any problems they may encounter while travelling.

On the other hand, some may argue that it would be more useful for students to work for a year after graduation. This is mainly because it will give them the opportunity to gain work experience and develop their professional skills. However, I believe that the advantages of travelling are much more significant. Firstly, the knowledge and skills that students gain from travelling are applicable to any job, whereas the skills gained from a single job may be specific to that particular role. Secondly, many employers are now looking for employees who have international experience, which travelling provides.

In conclusion, while some people may argue that it is better for students to work for a year after graduation, I believe that travelling abroad is the more beneficial option. Not only does it allow students to gain knowledge about different cultures and societies, but it also develops their personal skills such as communication and adaptability. Furthermore, many employers now look for employees who have international experience, which travelling provides.
